"GILSONITE" Weather Sealer Preparation:

·WE TRIM GRASS OFF SURFACE TO EDGE OF ASPHALT.  This allows us to seal ALL of the surface.  Most other sealcoaters don't trim the grass off the  asphalt, which means there are areas that they are NOT sealing. LOOK AROUND YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD AT OTHER DRIVEWAYS, and you will find that this is true.

· WE FULLY CLEAN DRIVEWAY USING BLOWERS, TO REMOVE DIRT AND DEBRIS AND ALL LOOSE STONE FROM SURFACE OF THE ASPHALT.  This helps remove dust and dirt trapped in small cracks.  For proper adhesion, the surface must be dust free.

· WE FILL ALL LARGE CRACKS AND HOLES with the appropriate filler (see crack filling).

· WE USE PRESSURE TO APPLY THE SEALER, A PROCEDURE THAT PRODUCES A MORE UNIFORM FINISH. This is to insure coverage and penetration of asphalt-based sealer into the pores and minor cracks of the asphalt. Pressure application does NOT allow UNSIGHTLY BROOM MARKS.

· WE USE TRIM BOARD ON ALL AREAS THAT ADJOIN THE ASPHALT PAVEMENT: brickwork, siding, sidewalks, landscape timbers, even the curb that meets the street.   MOST OTHER PROFESSIONALS DO NOT!

· WE PROFESSIONALLY BLOCK THE ENTRANCE. We place cones along the entrance to your driveway or parking lot and remove them when it is safe to drive on it again.

In the event it should rain, you do not have to worry about the sealer washing away. The "GILSONITE" sealer is waterproof even though it hasn't completely dried. The drying time for the sealer is any where between 3 to 5 hours for walking on, depending on the temperature and humidity. The warmer the weather, the quicker the sealer dries. You may notice some small puddles of sealer. These situations will be kept to a minimum. Don't worry; the sealer will dry.  The puddles take a little longer to dry. You can tell if the sealer has dried by touching the surface with your fingertips. If it feels tacky it has not dried yet! The asphalt surface must be completely free of all water. This sealer can not be mixed with water Small wet areas can be dried with the power blower!
